About Dr. Swift
Augusta (Gusty) Swift was born and raised in Jackson, Wyoming where she developed her love for nature and the outdoors. Ever since she was a young child she found herself most content when outside playing sports, skiing, fishing or simply building forts in the woods. She became a competitive alpine ski racer as a child and decided to leave home at the age of fifteen to attend Burke Mountain Academy, in order to pursue her skiing career. She competed throughout high school and college at the national and international level and spent time training with the U.S. Ski Team. Gusty attended Dartmouth College where she received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in pre-med, studio art and art history, and was an active member of the alpine ski team as an Academic and Athletic All-American. Following graduation from Dartmouth, she returned to her high school alma mater to teach science and ski racing for a year and later spent another year teaching art, soccer and ski racing in Vail, Colorado. She moved to Portland, Oregon to attend the National College of Natural Medicine (N.C.N.M) to pursue her longstanding passion for medicine. She always envisioned herself as a doctor, and after receiving treatment from a holistic chiropractor in college she began exploring options other than conventional medical school. As soon as she learned about naturopathic medicine, she knew that was the career path for her. Gusty lives in NE Portland with her husband, son and beloved animals and enjoys spending her free time in the mountains, on a river or at the beach. Her interests include photography, painting, yoga, kiteboarding, skiing, and soccer.
